Driving to end the pandemic: Community Care Durham offers free rides to vaccinations

Free rides to Durham COVID-19 vaccination clinics, thanks to OPG grant

Community Care Durham is offering free rides for Durham residents and their caregivers to COVID-19 vaccination clinics — thanks to a $10,000 grant from Ontario Power Generation.

Community Care Durham supports residents with services ranging from an adult day program for those with developmental disabilities to Meals on Wheels and volunteer transportation for seniors.

It can now help Durham residents and their caregivers get to COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

Volunteer drivers follow strict COVID-19 safety protocols, wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure passengers are safe. The organization’s vans now have a barrier installed between the driver and passenger. Passengers are required to wear masks and pre-screen for COVID symptoms before getting inside. The vans are disinfected between drives.

To arrange a drive to a COVID-19 vaccination clinic with Community Care Durham, call 1-888-255-6680 or complete the online referral at www.communitycaredurham.on.ca/request-service/.
