James Meloche is using his passion for photography to benefit his other passion in life – supporting Community Care Durham’s mission.
CCD’s CEO picked nine of his winter scene photos for Seasonal Cards that he’s using as a fundraiser for the organization.
“I had literally thousands of photos to choose from, but I think these images reflect my experience of being outdoors in winter. I wanted images that appealed to everyone irrespective of how they celebrated the holiday season. It wasn’t easy choosing so I let others help me decide,” he said.
James’ camera is always close at hand when he’s cycling or hiking, often starting in the darkness of winter mornings.
“Starting in darkness and being present for the arrival of the sun has made me very attentive to the subtle way that light illuminates things,” James commented. This eye for detail, light, and composition is evident in the cards he’s produced.
“I’ve been told before I should do something with my photography, but I often resist as I want to keep this a passion rather than a job,” James said. “These cards are a way to share some of my favourite images while raising money for a good cause – supporting CCD’s vital programs and services.”
There are three themed packages of to choose from, six cards per pack.
The cost is $20 per pack.
