Home First Personal Support Workers
Casual (Elect-to-Work)

Compensation:  $17.14 - $20.49 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

We are looking for Home First Workers who are available to work on short notice, able to communicate their availability on a regular basis, and commit to accepting hours of work as required.

Qualifications required:

Personal Support Worker certificate, or acceptable equivalent (e.g., RPN) and  
   experience in the community setting
Satisfactory criminal reference check
Sensitivity to the needs of the frail elderly and persons with disabilities
Physical ability sufficient to assist with client transfers and daily living
   activities for clients with complex care needs
Ability and willingness to accept assignments on short notice and drive within
   Durham Region

Home First is a philosophy of care that supports patients with complex needs returning home from hospital after an acute illness.  With an enhanced level of service provided at home, care needs can best be met, and clients can make appropriate decisions for transitioning to a long term care home or to regular community based services.

The Home First Worker provides assistance with daily living activities, personal care, meal preparation, light homemaking, social interactions, medications, while maintaining a safe environment.
